After flying high against the Praise Academy Lions last Thursday, the Excel Christian Academy Eagles came back down to earth. Excel Christian Academy took a serious blow against the Lions on Tuesday, falling 83-25. Excel Christian Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 57-5.
Despite the defeat, Excel Christian Academy had strong showings from Amanda Davison, who scored ten points, and Chae Vieira, who scored nine points. That was a full 36% of Excel Christian Academy's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Leading Valor Christian to victory were Alyssa Mulholland and Lyla Hughes. Mulholland scored 18 points, while Hughes scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Geory LaMark, who scored 12 points.
Excel Christian Academy has not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Valor Christian, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-7.
Excel Christian Academy will head out on the road to square off against the Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Unity Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 last Monday. Valor Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
