Maricopa extended their losing streak to 13 on Friday, dropping them down to 4-17. They lost 18-6 to the Pusch Ridge Christian Academy Lions. The Rams were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2025.
Lizzie DeuPree was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Sophia Flores, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.
As for Pusch Ridge Christian Academy, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-16-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by six runs or more this season.
On Pusch Ridge Christian Academy's side, Josie Burnside was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts Burnside has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Milan Daniels and Maddy Hoel did most of the damage at the plate: Daniels went 2-for-5 with five RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Hoel went 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those five RBI gave Daniels a new career-high. Reagan Sepp was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
Looking ahead, Maricopa will challenge Canyon del Oro at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Dorados' pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so the Rams' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Pusch Ridge Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
