Northglenn is 0-3 against Boulder since March of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Norsemen will welcome the Panthers at 7:00 p.m.
Northglenn fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Westminster on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wolves by a score of 5-4. The Norsemen's defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Hunter Campbell made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Mikey Rivera was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Boulder). They put the hurt on Mountain Range with a sharp 13-3 win on Tuesday. With that victory, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.
Finn Torvik was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Toby Schoenfeld and Miles Love did most of the damage at the plate: Schoenfeld scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Love scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1. The dominant performance also gave Schoenfeld a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Gavin Nguyen, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
Boulder was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .367 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
Boulder's win ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-5. As for Northglenn, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Northglenn has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Boulder struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Northglenn might still be hurting after the 12-2 loss they got from Boulder in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Norsemen have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
