Football Recap: Simeon Skates Past Goode STEM Academy with Ease

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Simeon walked away with it. They breezed past the Goode STEM Academy Knights to the tune of 56-8 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won six matchups by 22 points or more so far this season.

James Bell was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 175 yards and three TDs on only eight carries. Those 175 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Cornell Conely was another key player, picking up 117 receiving yards and one score.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Simeon was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 249 rushing yards. They are a perfect 3-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Simeon has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 6.8 points on average over those games. As for Goode STEM Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.

Coming up, Simeon will face off against Normal West at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Wolverines will need to watch out since the Wildcats have now posted at least 31 points in their last five contests. Goode STEM Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
