The Pensacola Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Booker T. Washington Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Pensacola has struggled recently with six losses in a row, while Booker T. Washington will arrive with four straight victories.
Last Tuesday, Pensacola ended up a good deal behind Milton and lost 58-43. While losing is never fun, Pensacola can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 457th, while Milton is ranked 123rd).
Pensacola's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Zac Clarke, who scored 15 points along with three steals, and Nick Jones who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylen Steele, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Booker T. Washington beat Tate 58-51 on Tuesday.
Alex Jasquith continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Logan Brown, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds.
Pensacola's defeat was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Booker T. Washington, their victory bumped their record up to 14-6.
Friday's contest is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Pensacola have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 43% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Booker T. Washington struggles in that department as they've made 39.9% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Pensacola suffered a grim 56-36 defeat to Booker T. Washington in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Pensacola avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
