The Linden Eagles will face off against the Clio Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Linden comes in on three and Clio on four.
On Tuesday, Linden earned a 7-3 victory over Brandon.
Tessa Zilisch (2027) made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Zilisch (2027) was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Macy Common (2029) was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Lilly Ciesielski (2028) was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Linden hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brandon struck out nine times.
Meanwhile, Clio got themselves on the board against Owosso on Monday, but Owosso never followed suit. They blew past the Trojans 6-0. Fans of the Mustangs have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Not much got past Addie Taylor, who gave up just four hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Owosso off the board. Taylor has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Clio's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ashlyn LaFreniere, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run. Another was Evey Wagner, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Linden's victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Clio, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Linden hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Clio struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Linden couldn't quite finish off Clio when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 3-1. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
