It was a good run, but The Nixon Mustangs unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (28-27), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. They have struggled against Martin recently, as their contest on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Nixon's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was RAY GONZALEZ, who threw for 223 yards and three touchdowns. GONZALEZ is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last four games he's played. Emiliano Hernandez was another key contributor, gaining 82 total yards and a touchdown.
Nixon's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Martin, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season.
Nixon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Martin will head out on the road to face off against Miller at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Miller knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten matchups -- so hopefully Martin likes a good challenge.
