The Forney Jackrabbits are on the road again on Friday and play against the Lone Star Rangers at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Forney had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past Port Arthur Memorial 44-7 on the road. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Forney had established a 30 point advantage.
Forney found their leader in underclassman Javian Osborne, who rushed for 202 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per carry. Osborne hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for four straight games. Kyle Crawford was another key contributor, throwing for 177 yards and two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Forney's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Xzavier Young was especially locked on to Port Arthur Memorial's QB and sacked him twice.
Meanwhile, Lone Star entered their tilt with White with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. Lone Star breezed by White on the road to the tune of 49-14. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 49-0.
It was another big night for Collin Blackstock, who threw for 270 yards and five touchdowns on only 19 passes. Davian Groce also deserves a shout-out for his three touchdowns.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 10-1.
Forney was taken down by Lone Star 55-13 in their previous matchup back in November of 2015. Can Forney avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
