The Pace Academy Knights will stay at home for another game and welcome the McDonough Warhawks at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. Hopefully Pace Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Saturday.
Pace Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success. They walked away with a 74-63 win over Westminster. With that victory, Pace Academy brought their scoring average up to 51.2 points per game.
Pace Academy found their leader in underclassman Lawson Monroe, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Xian Williams, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, McDonough was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 59-54 to Stockbridge. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for McDonough in their matchups with Stockbridge: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite their defeat, McDonough saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Aniya Dedrick, who scored eight points along with two steals, was perhaps the best of all. Dedrick is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Janique Trinidad was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three steals.
Pace Academy's victory bumped their record up to 9-4. As for McDonough, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Pace Academy against McDonough when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 51-16 win. Will Pace Academy repeat their success, or does McDonough have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
