The Raymondville Bearkats were the 47-41 winner over the Grulla Gators when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Raymondville fell just short of Grulla by a score of 46-43.
Several Bearkats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jacob Garza, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Garza has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times he's played. Colt Cavazos was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Raymondville has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-22 record this season. As for Grulla, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-13.
Raymondville has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Hidalgo at 8:00 p.m. on February 9th. Hidalgo is coming into the matchup with three straight wins on the road, meaning Raymondville will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win. As for Grulla, they will challenge Jubilee Brownsville at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
