The third road match was the charm for Paulding, as they earned their first away win of the season. Everything went their way against the Jefferson Wildcats on Friday as they made off with a 14-7 victory. With that win, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 7.5 runs per game.
Tia Mendez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Mariah Klopfenstein was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Brooklynn Bakle, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of her five plate appearances.
Paulding always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The victory got Paulding back to even at 2-2. As for Jefferson, they moved to 5-2 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.
Coming up, Paulding will face off against Ottawa-Glandorf at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Panthers are facing the Titans at the right time seeing as the Titans are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Jefferson, they will venture away from home to take on Anna at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
