On Friday, the Germantown Mavericks faced the Tupelo Golden Wave in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Germantown skirted past Tupelo 39-37. The victory was nothing new for Germantown as they're now sitting on five straight.
Germantown got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Alana Rouser out in front who scored seven points along with 17 rebounds and five blocks. Rouser is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Raegan Jordan was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
Germantown's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-9. As for Tupelo, their loss dropped their record down to 16-9.
Germantown does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Tupelo, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Oxford at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Tupelo is not getting complacent considering they own a much higher rank in Mississippi (they are ranked 15th, while Oxford is ranked 137th).
