The Veritas Christian Eagles were handed a two-point loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against the Kansas School for the Deaf Jackrabbits on Tuesday. Everything went Veritas Christian's way against the Jackrabbits as the Eagles made off with a 49-25 win. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Veritas Christian just coasted through the last quarter.
It was another big night for Gavin Oberzan, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. He hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Nolan McGuire, who scored ten points.
Kansas School for the Deaf's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eli Grove, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Orlando Cobos-Sosa was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with nine rebounds.
Veritas Christian's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Kansas School for the Deaf, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-5.
Veritas Christian will be playing in front of their home fans against the Vikings at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Mission Valley has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Kansas School for the Deaf, they will head out on the road to challenge the Aztecs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Guadalupe Centers has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 29.
