The Gateway College Preparatory Gators will challenge the Lampasas Badgers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Gateway College Preparatory is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
Gateway College Preparatory's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Jarrell with a sharp 15-0 win. The Gators might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.
Chloe Ellis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Makenzie Rogers was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Sackett, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.
Gateway College Preparatory always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .769. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Lampasas didn't have quite enough to beat Taylor on Tuesday and fell 9-8.
Gateway College Preparatory pushed their record up to 18-1-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Lampasas, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Gateway College Preparatory hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Lampasas struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went Gateway College Preparatory's way against Lampasas in their previous meeting back in March, as Gateway College Preparatory made off with a 19-0 victory. Do the Gators have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Badgers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
