The Newark Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Hilliard Bradley Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Newark is hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses.
Newark pushed their score all the way to 47 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 55-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lancaster. While losing is never fun, Newark can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 436th, while Lancaster is ranked 215th).
Despite the defeat, Newark got a solid performance out of Steele Meister, who rushed for 81 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 364 yards and three touchdowns. Meister is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Drayson Peterson, who picked up 200 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Hilliard Bradley unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 14-7 to Dublin Coffman.
Bradyn Fleharty put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 67 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries.
The losses dropped Newark to 2-8 and Hilliard Bradley to 9-1.
