Basketball Game Preview: Fulton Falcons vs. Fayette Ware Wildcats

Fulton is a perfect 3-0 against Fayette Ware since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Fulton Falcons will venture away from home to challenge the Fayette Ware Wildcats at 2:15 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Fulton comes in on four and Fayette Ware on 19.

Fulton is headed into the contest having just posted their closest win since January 24th last Monday. They had just enough and edged out Unicoi County 49-46.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Fayette Ware's strategy against Kirby on Monday. Fayette Ware took down Kirby 75-60. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Cougars are ranked 107th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fulton better keep an eye on Tarecous Stevens. He was instrumental in Fayette Ware's win, dropping a double-double with 21 points and 16 boards. Stevens is becoming a predictor of Fayette Ware's success: when he posts at least eight rebounds the team is 25-2 (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Quaylan Hampton, who went 6-for-9 on his way to 15 points and four steals.

Fayette Ware smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 53 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Fayette Ware's victory was their 13th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 27-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.2 points over those games. As for Fulton, they now have a winning record of 17-16.

Fulton beat Fayette Ware 56-49 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Will Fulton repeat their success, or does Fayette Ware have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
