The Mansfield Wolverines waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They skirted past Winnfield 55-53. The win was all the more spectacular given Mansfield's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while the Tigers are ranked 72nd).
Winnfield lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Decavian Duncan, who scored 18 points. Ja'Ven Jackson was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Mansfield has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-14 record this season. As for Winnfield, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-8.
Mansfield will head out on the road to challenge the Gators at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Winnfield, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
