Basketball Recap: Regis Jesuit's Loss Ends Ten-Game Winning Streak at Home

It was a good run, but Regis Jesuit unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the ThunderRidge Grizzlies by a score of 69-66. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Raiders have suffered since January 19, 2024.

Regis Jesuit's loss came despite strong showings from Eric Fiedler and Lucas Dickinson. Fiedler dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds, while Dickinson posted 14 points along with seven boards and six assists. Fiedler's evening made it 13 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Hawkins, who had 11 points.

Even though they lost, Regis Jesuit smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive matches.

ThunderRidge was led to victory by Drew Paine and Ulysses Brown. Paine went 11 for 16 en route to 26 points and six rebounds, while Brown almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards. Paine is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last five games he's played. Sam Walkowiak was another key player, putting up seven points and six rebounds.

Regis Jesuit's defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-3. As for ThunderRidge, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Regis Jesuit will challenge Ponderosa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Regis Jesuit's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for ThunderRidge, they will square off against Ralston Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
