The Taylor County Bulldogs suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of Aucilla Christian by a score of 40-37. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Taylor County in their matchups with Aucilla Christian: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite the loss, Taylor County still got an impressive performance from LeeAsia Johnson, who scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johnson has scored all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Aucilla Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lauchlin Faglie, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Faglie hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Riley Rutledge, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
Taylor County bumped their record down to 3-9 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Aucilla Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5.
Taylor County and North Florida Christian will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Aucilla Christian, they will head out on the road to take on Jefferson County at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Jefferson County's defense has only allowed 28.7 points per game this season, so Aucilla Christian's offense will have their work cut out for them.
