Basketball Game Preview: Horizon Huskies vs. Notre Dame Prep Saints

The Horizon Huskies will face off against the Notre Dame Prep Saints at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Horizon comes in on four and Notre Dame Prep on six.

Horizon is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Paradise Valley: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Horizon blew Paradise Valley out of the water with a 54-21 final score. The game marked the Huskies' most dominant victory of the season.

Horizon's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Avery Olson, who posted 12 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks. That's the most points Olson has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Paisy Perkins, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 boards.

Horizon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 17 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Notre Dame Prep humbled Mountain Pointe with a 53-19 victory.

Notre Dame Prep's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-8. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points per game. As for Horizon, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Horizon lost to Notre Dame Prep at home by a decisive 52-33 margin when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Horizon avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
