Football Game Preview: Phillipsburg Stateliners vs. Ramapo Raiders

The Phillipsburg Stateliners will take on the Ramapo Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Phillipsburg comes in on five and Ramapo on eight.

Phillipsburg is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They put the hurt on Montgomery with a sharp 41-21 win. Considering the Stateliners have won nine contests by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Phillipsburg can attribute much of their success to Sam Dech, who rushed for 127 yards and a pair of TDs, and Dominic Bracco, who threw for 113 yards and two touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes. What's more, Bracco racked up 29 rushing yards, the most he's had since back in September. Tyler Wargo was another key rusher, rushing for 91 yards on only eight carries.

Meanwhile, Ramapo faced Northern Highlands in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Raiders pulled ahead with a 28-27 photo finish over the Highlanders. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Raiders have posted since November 8, 2024.

Phillipsburg better keep an eye on Casey Grusser. He was instrumental in Ramapo's win, rushing for 137 yards on only 15 carries, while also throwing for 168 yards and two TDs on only 15 passes. Grusser really tore up the turf during one magnificent 73-yard run. Another rusher making a difference was Liam Hayward, who rushed for 39 yards and a pair of scores.

Phillipsburg's win bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Ramapo, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 10-1.

Everything came up roses for Phillipsburg against Ramapo when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 35-6 win. Do the Stateliners have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
