South County has gone 9-1 against Alexandria City recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Stallions will venture away from home to challenge the Titans at 6:30 p.m. South County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
South County will bounce into Monday's match after beating Robinson, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Stallions came out on top against the Rams by a score of 7-2 on Friday. The win was familiar territory for the Stallions, who have now won three games in a row.
Maddie Grice spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Peyton Tom, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiley Gregory, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: South County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Alexandria City came up short against Lake Braddock on Friday, falling 12-3.
Alexandria City saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Malia Cozier, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was Cozier's first of the season. Addie Tuttle was another, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.
South County's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Alexandria City, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-13.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. South County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .373. However, it's not like Alexandria City struggles in that department as they've averaged .326. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
South County took their win against Alexandria City in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 16-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Stallions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
