The Pottsville Crimson Tide scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Tamaqua 74-47 at home. With that win, Pottsville brought their scoring average up to 54.2 points per game.
Pottsville found their leader in underclassman Christian Alvarez, who scored 26 points. The match was Alvarez's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Derek Watkins was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
When it comes to explaining why Tamaqua lost, one person who can't be blamed is Cooper Ansbach. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Ansbach scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Dillon, who scored 11 points.
Pottsville's win ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-2. As for Tamaqua, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Pottsville will head out on the road to face off against Jim Thorpe at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Jim Thorpe comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Tamaqua will be home for the holidays to greet Lehighton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
