The Freeport Red Devils will head out on the road to face off against the Hempstead Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Monday, Freeport was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 39-33 to Uniondale.
Freeport's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jevon Saul, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks, and Jaylen Jean-Louis who scored eight points. Those three blocks set a new season-high mark for him.
Even though they lost, Freeport were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Hempstead unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 64-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Anthony's. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Freeport's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Hempstead, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Freeport ended up a good deal behind Hempstead in their previous matchup back in January, losing 71-57. Can Freeport avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
