The Cobleskill-Richmondville Bulldogs will challenge the Schoharie Storm at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Schoharie will be up against a hot Cobleskill-Richmondville team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. The Bulldogs blew past Fort Plain 11-5 on Monday. Considering the Bulldogs have won four games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Schoharie). They put the hurt on Johnstown with a sharp 22-10 victory on Monday. The Storm not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 25, 2024 (when they won 28-10).
Kayla Hayes made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and eight unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Arabella Donzelli was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one double. Madison Reinhart was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Schoharie always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Cobleskill-Richmondville pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 23.0 runs over those games. As for Schoharie, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.
Cobleskill-Richmondville couldn't quite finish off Schoharie in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
