After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Caravel, the Holy Cross Knights were happy to have found some success on Friday. They came out on top against Gerstell Academy by a score of 50-39.
It was another big night for Kyara Champagne, who scored 22 points. The matchup was her eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jamie Davneiro, who scored nine points.
Gerstell Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taylor Moran, who scored 15 points. Eniyah Stinnette was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Gerstell Academy were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Holy Cross only pulled down ten offensive rebounds.
Holy Cross is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Gerstell Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.
Holy Cross will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Monsignor Scanlan at 6:00 p.m. Monsignor Scanlan will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line. As for Gerstell Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Mount de Sales Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
