In what's become a running theme this season, the Portal Panthers gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They claimed a resounding 87-43 win over Emanuel County Institute on the road. Winning may never get old, but Portal sure is getting used to it with their eighth in a row.
Leading Portal to victory were Elijah Coleman and Joseph Thomas. Coleman scored 17 points along with six assists and six steals, while Thomas made all 6 shots he took from beyond the arc racking up 35 points and 2 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Thomas has scored all season. Marion Tremble was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six assists and two blocks.
Portal's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.3 points per game. As for Emanuel County Institute, their loss dropped their record down to 2-14.
Portal will head out on the road to take on Savannah Classical Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Savannah Classical Academy is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Emanuel County Institute, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Claxton at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Claxton is ranked 532nd, while Emanuel County Institute is ranked 521st).
