Derby scored the most points they've had this season on Wednesday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 60-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Crosby Bulldogs. The Red Raiders were not able to make up for their loss to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in December of 2023.

Despite the defeat, Derby had strong showings from Jerlena Alexander, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 boards, and Shea Gray, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. That was a full 37.5% of Derby's points, marking the tenth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Alexis Cavallaro was another key player, putting up six points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Derby has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season. As for Crosby, with the victory, they broke their 12-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-3.

Derby has already played their next matchup (against Waterbury Career Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Crosby will challenge Capital Prep/Classical Magnet/Achievement First at 1:00 p.m. on Monday.
