The Chowchilla Tribe will head out on the road to face off against the Fresno Christian Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
The third road contest was the charm for Chowchilla, as they earned their first road win of the season. They walked away with a 62-49 victory over Liberty on Friday.
Chowchilla can attribute much of their success to Khaled Escheik, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and two steals, and Ryan Deatherage, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Deatherage has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Zayne Smith was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five assists and two steals.
Meanwhile, Fresno Christian waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 76-33 victory over Yosemite. Given Fresno Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 306th, while Yosemite is ranked 1286th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Chowchilla's win bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Fresno Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.
Chowchilla was taken down by Fresno Christian 76-37 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Can Chowchilla avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
