Colonial Christian proved they can win big last Monday (they won by 12) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Hialeah Educational Academy Biggie 21-20.
Zoe Friman made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Those hits were her first of the season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Destiny Polles was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, six runs, and five RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Rachel Neyra, who scored five runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-4.
Colonial Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. They are 2-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
The victory got Colonial Christian back to even at 3-3. As for Hialeah Educational Academy, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 3-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Colonial Christian will challenge Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Colonial Christian has given up an average of 18.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Hialeah Educational Academy, they will square off against Mater Academy Charter at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
