After losing to the Mount Pisgah Christian Patriots the last time they met, the Marist War Eagles decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Marist greeted the New Year with with a 66-51 victory over Mount Pisgah Christian. Given Marist's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 147th, while Mount Pisgah Christian is ranked 295th), the result on Wednesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Marist got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jackson Harkness out in front who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds. Those 14 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Harpring, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and seven assists.
Marist has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Mount Pisgah Christian, they bumped their record down to 5-11 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marist will take on Dunwoody at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Mount Pisgah Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mount Vernon at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mount Vernon knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 13 matchups -- so hopefully Mount Pisgah Christian likes a good challenge.
