City College is 0-9 against Poly since March of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The City College Black Knights will be playing at home against the Poly Engineers at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
City College's and Patterson's match on Wednesday was close at halftime, but City College turned on the heat in the second half with 40 points. City College took their match at home with ease, bagging a 60-31 victory over Patterson.
Meanwhile, Poly had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 48 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 63-11 win over Coppin Academy at home. Given Poly's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while Coppin Academy is ranked 115th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Poly's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mickelle Lowry, who scored 13 points along with two steals. Lowry is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. London Elliot was another key contributor, scoring five points along with four steals.
City College's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-6. As for Poly, their victory bumped their record up to 18-1.
