Dawson School is on an eight-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Flatirons Academy is on a five-game streak of away wins (also dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Mustangs will host the Bison at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Dawson School headed into their last match having not scored more than two runs for three straight, but Platte Canyon let them put that streak behind them. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 22-2 margin over the Huskies on Friday. With that victory, the Mustangs brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Declan Noonan made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run but no hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs.
In other batting news, Shelton Johnson was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Milo Richtel, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Dawson School always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Flatirons Academy). Everything went their way against Wiley on Saturday as they made off with a 20-3 win. Considering the Bison have won six contests by more than nine runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Dawson School, Flatirons Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Conner Odell. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Odell was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Parker Wilson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as he's now brought in four or more in each of the last three games he's played. Caleb Doughty was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Dawson School moved to 2-4 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Flatirons Academy, their win bumped their record up to 8-0.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Dawson School has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Flatirons Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Dawson School came out on top in a nail-biter against Flatirons Academy in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 8-7. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bison turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
