Perry-Lecompton entered their tilt with Nemaha Central on Tuesday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Thunder.
The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Perry-Lecompton who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 21-25, 25-18.
Perry-Lecompton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Emmy Reed, who had 29 assists, five kills, and five digs. Another player making a difference was Macie Corcoran, who had 10 kills, seven digs, four aces, and a solo block.
Nola Sudbeck and Kennedy Carlson certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Sudbeck had 13 kills, eight digs, and two solo blocks, while Carlson had 23 assists, nine digs, and two aces.
Perry-Lecompton has now won 13 of their last 14 games at home. That's helped them to a 23-11 record this season. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-4 Rossville and 1-3 Holton (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 28.6% over those games). As for Nemaha Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 10 of their last 13 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 19-15 record this season.
Coincidentally, Perry-Lecompton and Nemaha Central will both be playing Sabetha the next time they take the court. The Thunder will head out to face the Bluejays at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Kaws will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
