Baseball Recap: Gateway Finds Home Field Redemption Against Adams City

There's no place like home for Gateway, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Adams City Eagles on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Olympians, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Jakob Petersen, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Jose Soto also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Gateway kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Gateway pushed their record up to 8-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.7 runs over those games. As for Adams City, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-5.
