For the first time this season, Tri-City Christian will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Thursday. They will welcome the Foothills Christian Knights at 3:30 p.m. Tri-City Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
Tri-City Christian proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 20) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Maranatha Christian 6-5.
Michaela Berardini spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Logan Valdivia was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Erykah Juarez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, Foothills Christian had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Francis Parker an 8-0 shutout.
Emma Romeka made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Foothills Christian let Gabby Wolford and Grace Steele run wild. Wolford scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her five plate appearances, while Steele scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Kylie Mathistad, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Tri-City Christian's win bumped their record up to 3-1-1. As for Foothills Christian, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-0.
Everything went Tri-City Christian's way against Foothills Christian in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Tri-City Christian made off with a 9-3 win. Will Tri-City Christian repeat their success, or does Foothills Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
