The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Elmore County in their matchups with Marbury: they've now lost four in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Marbury to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nasiyah Jernigan, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Gabrielle Brown was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Elmore County has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Marbury, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elmore County will take on Marbury at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Marbury, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Montevallo at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. Montevallo will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 290th, while Marbury is ranked 135th).
