The Mancos Bluejays stacked an eighth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. Everything went their way against Nucla as Mancos made off with a 75-55 victory. The win was familiar territory for Mancos who now have five in a row.
Mancos' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brian Veach, who scored 19 points along with two steals. Chris Medina was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three steals.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brycen Rummel, who scored eight points along with eight assists and six rebounds. Rummel has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Steele Arnold, who scored 17 points.
Mancos' win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-3. As for Nucla, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-6.
Mancos has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Pagosa Springs at 6:30 p.m. on February 6th. Pagosa Springs will roll in looking for their 15th straight win, something Mancos surely won't give up without a fight. Nucla will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Sangre de Cristo at 2:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Nucla is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53.8 points per game this season.
