Millikan is 9-1 against Long Beach Poly since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Rams will challenge the Jackrabbits at 3:30 p.m. Millikan's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Long Beach Poly's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Millikan came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Palos Verdes, falling 9-2.
Millikan saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lauryn Kim, who went 2-for-4 with one run.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last six times Long Beach Poly and Lakewood have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Tuesday. The Jackrabbits walked away with a 10-6 win over the Lancers. The Jackrabbits haven't had any issues with the Lancers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Tegan Breaux made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Persjah Lam Sam and Alayna Veavealagi did most of the damage at the plate: Lam Sam went a perfect 4-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Veavealagi went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits Lam Sam has posted since back in April of 2025. Elizabeth Marquez was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Long Beach Poly always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lakewood only posted an OBP of .353.
Long Beach Poly's record is now 9-3. As for Millikan, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 21-8.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Millikan hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .338. However, it's not like Long Beach Poly struggles in that department as they've averaged .467. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Millikan beat Long Beach Poly 4-1 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
