Softball Recap: Terry Snags Eighth Win in Last Ten Games

Terry put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Thursday. They never let the Forest Hill Patriots get on the board and left with a 19-0 victory. Considering the Bulldogs have won nine games by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Alyssa Lake made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with six stolen bases and three runs. Those six stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jaelah Washigton was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Anastasia Burnham was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs.

Terry always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .917. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .857 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Terry is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for Forest Hill, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Terry beat the Patriots by a score of 16-0 later that day.
