The New Haven Shamrocks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 61-51 to Liberty Christian Academy. While losing is never fun, New Haven can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 520th, while Liberty Christian Academy is ranked 208th).
Liberty Christian Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jack Duvel, who scored 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tommy Meyer, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and five blocks.
New Haven has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season. As for Liberty Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3.
New Haven will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Missouri Military Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 12, 2024. Liberty Christian Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face Valley at 8:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Liberty Christian Academy likes a good challenge.
