Prince Edward County extended their losing streak to ten on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-10-1 in the process. They lost 19-2 to the Randolph-Henry Statesmen. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Statesmen this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 31-1 back in April.
Prince Edward County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kayla Killebrew, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
As for Randolph-Henry, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-11. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their two-run performance the game before.
On Randolph-Henry's side, Kendall Snead and McKayla Lockett made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Snead tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Lockett kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. At bat, Snead went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Lockett went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those two runs gave Lockett a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Glenna Vereen, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. She also put up a stolen base, which was her first of the season. Alyssa Townsend was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Coincidentally, Prince Edward County and Randolph-Henry will both be playing Nottoway the next time they take the field. The Eagles will head out to face the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Statesmen will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
