Everything went their way against the Crean Lutheran Saints on Tuesday as they made off with a 25-1 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Mustangs considering their one-run performance the contest before.
Samantha Cook and Sydney Chirco made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Cook struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Chirco pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Cook has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Cook went 4-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Chirco scored a run while going 1-for-1. Those five RBI gave Cook a new career-high.
In other batting news, Yorba Linda got a massive performance out of Liliya Cartledge, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with five runs, two doubles, and one triple. Those five runs gave Cartledge a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Natalia Wojtuszewski, who went 2-for-4 with four runs, five RBI, and one stolen base.
Yorba Linda hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
