The Scott Central Rebels will head out to square off against the North Forrest Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Scott Central lost a heartbreaker the last time they played McLaurin, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's game. The Rebels blew past the Tigers 14-4 on Monday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Rebels' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for North Forrest, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. Everything went their way against Magee on Saturday as they made off with a 12-5 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won ten contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Jordan Barnes was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four RBI, one run, and one double. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two).
In other batting news, Landon Hayes and Chancellor Rogers did most of the damage at the plate: Hayes scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances, while Rogers scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. That's the most runs Hayes has posted since back in April of 2024. Levi Thompson was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
North Forrest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .614. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Magee only posted an OBP of .419.
With the win, North Forrest broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 13-7. As for Scott Central, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-20.
Everything went Scott Central's way against North Forrest when the teams last played back in April of 2023, as Scott Central made off with a 15-1 win. Will the Rebels repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
