Sean Birmingham continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. Another player making a difference was Ian Howard, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Gaston Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Makoi Mabor Marier. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 35 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mabor Marier has scored all season. Cameron Newman was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with nine assists.
Concord Academy pushed their record up to 13-14 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points per game. As for Gaston Christian, they now have a losing record at 12-13.
Concord Academy will be playing at home against Northside Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Northside Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Friday. As for Gaston Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Gaston Day at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Gaston Day's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games.
