Even though the Wayne Preparatory Academy Generals scored an imposing 58 points on Tuesday, the Wayne Christian Eagles still came out on top. Wayne Christian slipped by Wayne Preparatory Academy 59-58. That's another feather in the cap for Wayne Christian, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Wayne Preparatory Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amari Dowdy, who scored 8 points along with 10 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ariyona Willis , who scored 16 points along with 6 assists and 5 rebounds.
Wayne Christian's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Wayne Preparatory Academy, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wayne Christian will challenge Arendell Parrott Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Wayne Preparatory Academy will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against New Hanover at 6:00 p.m. on December 1st. Hopefully New Hanover focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Wednesday.
