After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Judson, the East Central Hornets were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They walked away with a 53-46 victory over New Braunfels. Given East Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 166th, while New Braunfels is ranked 483rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
A'maya Holton continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Leah Mitchell, who scored 13 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
East Central's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-9. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points per game. As for New Braunfels, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-17.
East Central will head out on the road to square off against Steele at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Steele has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 219 points over their last three matches. As for New Braunfels, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Clemens at 7:00 p.m. Clemens is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
