The Princess Anne Cavaliers will head out to take on the Bayside Marlins at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Princess Anne is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, it was close, but Princess Anne sidestepped Tallwood for a 4-3 victory. The win continues a trend for the Cavaliers in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won seven in a row.
Reid Vandergrift was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run.

In other pitching news, Owen Schmidt looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).
Back at the plate, Aidan McKeating was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, Bayside was a bit more limited in their match on Tuesday. They fell just short of First Colonial by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Marlins have suffered since May 16, 2024.
Bayside also got a good showing from Zackery Schilmoeller, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Schilmoeller has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Bayside saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Barry Farias Jr, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.
Princess Anne's record now sits at 12-7. As for Bayside, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.
Princess Anne was able to grind out a solid victory over Bayside in their previous matchup back in March, winning 8-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cavaliers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
