The Decatur Seahawks will play host again and welcome the Milford Mill Academy Millers, where kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Decatur had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Wilde Lake 52-7 at home. Given Decatur's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland football rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while Wilde Lake is ranked 140th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Brycen Coleman continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 65 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 197 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Milford Mill Academy's offense rose to the challenge against a Wolverines defense that boasted an average of only 17.25 points allowed. Milford Mill Academy claimed a resounding 42-10 win over Potomac at home. Milford Mill Academy's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Keion Sutton had a dynamite game for Milford Mill Academy, rushing for 268 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 15.8 yards per carry. Sutton's longest rush was for an incredible 72 yards. Deshawn Purdie was another key contributor, throwing for 158 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 passes.
Decatur's win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-0. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 32.08 points. As for Milford Mill Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
Decatur came up short against Milford Mill Academy in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, falling 40-33. Thankfully for Decatur, Sean Williams jr (who rushed for 310 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
