Struthers hasn't had much luck against Girard recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Wildcats are taking a road trip to challenge the Indians at 5:00 p.m. Struthers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Struthers is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They lost 23-12 to Lowellville on Saturday.
Gabriella McDowell was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Vivian Marker, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Girard earned a 5-1 win over Columbiana on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Indians.
Brooklyn Broll spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Chloe Plant was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Quinn Wilster was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Girard hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Struthers' defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Girard, their record now sits at 5-7.
Struthers might still be hurting after the 18-2 loss they got from Girard in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
